Welcome to Homeopathy with Anna Jenkins
I have been practicing as a Homeopath since qualifying in 2011. I have a Licentiate degree in Homeopathy having completed 4yrs of study at the Contemporary College of Homeopathy Bristol. While studying I gained experience working in the college clinic. I then worked at Second
Step mental health charity as a student homeopath and for the last 4yrs I've been working in private practice.
Homeopathy is a holistic system of healing, treating both mind and body, suitable for both young and old. The remedies are made from natural sources that stimulate your body’s own healing power. A Homeopath treats the underlying causes of ill health rather than the symptoms alone. It is a subtle yet powerful therapy that can correct small imbalances long before appearance of more serious symptoms.
A homeopath sees healing as a partnership, with the patient, practitioner and remedies working together to restore well-being. This can be achieved alongside the use of conventional medication.
Homeopathy is a flexible medicine and a homeopath aims to work with you to establish what your needs are and how they can safely and effectively meet them.
Homeopathy is based on three principles
- Like cures like. Something that in large doses creates the symptoms of a disease, can in small doses, cure it.
- Extreme dilution enhances the medicine’s healing properties and eliminates undesirable side-effects along the way.
- The whole person must be taken into consideration when choosing a remedy.

About Homeopathy- in brief
(NB - more detailed notes are at the bottom of this page)
Homeopathy is along-established worldwide system of holistic medicine which is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. The skill of the practitioner lies in matching your symptom picture to the Homeopathic remedy pictures, & understanding the use of a range of suitable remedies. The treatment then works by stimulating your natural self-healing processes.
A variety of substances are used, prepared at a Homeopathic Pharmacy, using a dynamic method of extreme dilution, to make them non-toxic
Homeopathy is tailored to the individual. Not only your physical health, but also your emotional well-being is considered, as part of a friendly & in-depth process, which allows time for you to discuss your health problems in full.
A Versatile Therapy
One of the great strengths of Homeopathy is that it treats the whole person and not just the disease, therefore creating the potential to address a wide range of problems. Because the focus is on over all well being it may not be possible to anticipate specific outcomes for different individuals – but as people frequently ask what can be treated, below is a list of some common health topics dealt with in practice.
Whether your problems are associated with your menstrual cycle, puberty, pregnancy, the post-natal period, or the menopause, Anna will ask you about a variety of factors, including hormonal patterns, gynaecological history, life stresses & general wellbeing. There are a number of Homeopathic remedies that are traditionally used for women’s health – Anna will utilise these in your treatment plan, which will be customised to suit your whole health picture. She also advises on the use of Homeopathy during childbirth.
Because it is gentle & the remedies taste pleasant, & can be safely administered even to infants, Homeopathy may suit many ailments - e.g. teething, colic, constipation, acute illness, glue ear, sleep difficulties, skin complaints, tantrums, etc. As well as addressing any specific problems, Anna will consider your child’s constitutional picture &also your family health patterns in order to design treatments aimed at strengthening overall health & emotional balance (where relevant). She also offers guidance on managing your children’s minor ailments naturally at home if you so wish
Allergy & sensitivity
The Homeopathic approach to allergies always includes treatment of inherited health tendencies, & does not have to rely on a clear diagnosis of any offending allergens. However where such a diagnosis exists treatment can also include Homeopathic preparations of the offending substances– eg for hay-fever potentised pollens can be a very helpful part of the treatment plan. Allergy is a complex subject so you may find it helpful to contact me for a chat if you have more queries.
Dealing with stress & emotions
Emotional wellbeing constitutes a very substantial part of my work, whether as the main complaint or when associated with other health issues. Homeopathy can help you to deal with acute emotions (e.g. grief or shock), or chronic issues such as panic attacks, low self-esteem, or depression. Your treatment will aim to help you in resolving difficult feelings - such as guilt, anxiety & anger – & also to assist you in dealing with the associated stresses or traumas, past and present. Patients often report feeling empowered by their treatment & experiencing more clarity & emotional stability.
When bodily functions & rhythms are out of synch, people often turn to Homeopathy. Ailments such as constipation, indigestion, cystitis, insomnia, headaches or fatigue are commonly treated, within the context as always of you rover all health story.
Acute illness & immune support
Because Homeopathy assists your natural healing mechanisms, it can be useful for:- strengthening resistance to viruses and recurrent illnesses; providing support during acute ailments such as flu, sore throat, cystitis etc; promoting healing & recovery after injury, illness, surgery, or chemotherapy. Anna finds Homeopathy to be invaluable for wound healing in particular & when patients are in need of surgery she can provide a customised kit of recovery remedies (with a covering letter for your medical team)
